How to buy a used/second hand bike?

This is my first blog post so please do mind the less experienced writing.

If you are going to stay in the Netherlands for more than 3 months, then you definitely need. I got one after almost a month and it was a hassle till then.

Quick checklist for buying:

Before going to the shop, think about the following important things at home:

  • Type of cycle suited for you:
    • Normal Bike: 90% of the cycles you see are this type.
    • Key features:
      • Upright seating position
      • Medium sized tyres
      • Comfortable to short-medium distance
        • NOTE: Not suitable for cyclists who live far away or want to bike professionally.
    • Mountain Bike
  • Road Bike
  • Budget: What is the maximum you can afford to spend? The average prices for
    • Normal Bike: 90 – 120 Euro
    • Mountain Bike: 90 – 150 Euro
    • Road Bike : 120-150
  • NOTE: You can find bikes usually for cheaper prices! This is just an average Prices!!!.

  1. Size of the cycle : The seat of the bike, at its lowest height setting, must come near your hip.
